Hand off the routine bookkeeping and get an agreed view of your business finances. Milwaukee-based support for U.S. service businesses, delivered remotely.
What monthly bookkeeping covers
Monthly bookkeeping keeps routine financial activity organized and checks your accounts against the statements behind them. Gold Standard Bookkeeping provides remote QuickBooks Online bookkeeping for owner-operated service businesses and trades, with scope agreed around your actual workload.
- Transaction review and categorization: organize in-scope activity and ask about transactions that need business context or supporting records.
- Account reconciliations: compare the agreed bank and credit-card accounts with source statements, investigate differences, and identify unresolved items.
- Ledger maintenance and monthly close: review the in-scope records and document open questions before completing the agreed reporting work.
- Financial reports: provide an agreed view of profitability and financial position through reports such as a profit and loss statement and balance sheet.
The engagement specifies the accounts, reporting basis, activity assumptions, responsibilities, and delivery timing. Work outside that scope is discussed before it is added.
Choose the level of financial support you need
Essential: reliable monthly books
For owners who need transaction categorization, reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and standard financial reports. This is the foundation for understanding what the records show.
Growth: books plus financial visibility
Build on that foundation with agreed reporting, revenue and expense trends, accounts receivable and payable aging review, basic cash-flow visibility, and a regular financial discussion.
Advanced: specific operating workflows
Selected engagements may include client-approved invoice administration, defined receivable or payable workflows, custom management reporting, or QuickBooks Projects where suitable. Requirements are assessed individually; these services are not included automatically.
How working together looks
- Start with a conversation. Tell us about your business, current bookkeeping, systems, and the tasks you want to hand off.
- Confirm the workload. We assess the agreed records with your permission and confirm the accounts, activity, record quality, and any prior-period work.
- Agree on scope and price. Your written service agreement separates the monthly bookkeeping fee from any one-time cleanup fee.
- Set up the monthly rhythm. After the agreement, payment arrangements, and access requirements are complete, we establish document requests, questions, reporting deadlines, and communication.
You provide complete statements, supporting records, and answers to business questions. Your bank login credentials should not be emailed or included in the estimate request; access and document exchange are arranged separately.
Milwaukee-based, serving businesses remotely
GSB is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and works remotely with compatible businesses throughout the U.S. Current focus areas include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, tree care, cleaning, remodeling, and professional services. Fit depends on your systems and requirements as well as your industry.
Our standard platform is QuickBooks Online. If you use another system, we can discuss whether a transition is appropriate before committing to the work.
Questions before getting started
How much does monthly bookkeeping cost?
The fee depends on the number and type of accounts, transaction activity, integrations, record condition, and level of support. We confirm scope before providing a final price. The estimate form starts the conversation; it does not commit you to a fee.
What if my books are behind?
We assess historical periods separately and agree a catch-up or cleanup project if needed. The project fee and periods are separate from ongoing monthly bookkeeping.
Do you handle taxes or make payments for me?
Tax preparation, tax filing, and attestation services are outside the standard engagement. You retain business decisions and final payment authorization. We can discuss a handoff of agreed records to your tax professional with your permission.
Will the monthly fee change as my business grows?
If activity or requirements change materially, we review the scope and proposed fee with you. Any additional work and fee change need written agreement before the expanded work proceeds.
